As a Lead Scientist in this lab-based role you will deliver technical solutions for the next generation purification processes that meet industry demands. You will design, plan and execute studies in support of technology or process/product development projects with well-defined scopes and timelines. Analyse study data to drive conclusions and maintain Lonza as the lead supplier.
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of advanced primary recovery strategies;
- Assess novel primary recovery technologies at Laboratory and Pilot scale;
- Design, develop and optimize scalable primary recovery processes and novel affinity purification methods;
- Assess ligands and tag technologies for novel affinity capture steps;
- Study ligand-protein interactions through in-silico and biophysical methods;
- Develop and refine the process conditions for bespoke affinity capture methods;
- Independently designs studies, collate, evaluate/analyze and interpret complex data sets to achieve project targets;
- Write and execute detailed study plans with problem statements, success criteria and timelines;
- Author high quality technical reports and publications with scientifically supported conclusions and recommendations.
Key requirements:
- Minimum qualification of master's degree in the field of biotechnology, chemistry or chemical engineering;
- Experience in executing the primary separation and protein purification for biotherapeutics;
- Ability to troubleshoot downstream equipment and purification protocols;
- Effectively use digital tools for data analysis and to increase productivity;
- Demonstrable experience in working in a laboratory environment;
- Experience in writing scientific technical reports and publications;
- Fluent English language skills.
