Research Associate - Bioinformatics

To support our Bioinformatics team in Göttingen we are looking for a highly motivated Research Associate (all genders) - Bioinformatics, Full time and permanent with a keen interest in software development and applying state of the art bioinformatics to analysis of compound screens with omics readouts.

Your key responsibilities

Preprocess and analyze omics (primarily, RNA-Seq) screening data;
Integrate omics datasets to PanHunter;
Support interdisciplinary project teams in various research areas with bioinformatics expertise;
Participate in design and software implementation of methods and algorithms for omics data analysis and visualization;
Participate in improving data processing and analysis capabilities by optimizing existing and developing new workflows.

Your ideal qualifications

Master’s degree with several years of relevant professional experience or PhD in Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Computer Science, Computational Biology, or a related discipline;
Proficiency in working with bioinformatics methods and tools in the field of RNA-Seq;
Experience in software implementation of bioinformatics methods and algorithms;
Strong programming skills in at least one programming language;
Experience with R and shiny;
Experience in working with Linux systems;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work both in team and independently in a fast-paced work environment;
Fluency in written and spoken English.
