As a Principal Scientist for preclinical PK/PD Modelling and Simulation you will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary teams and drive our ‘learn-and-confirm’ mentality. You will improve your leadership skills by supervising and guiding Scientists as well as by contributing to external collaborations. Expand your own skillset by being a project team representative for all drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic disciplines within our project teams or by coordinating the modelling and simulation activities for one of our therapeutic areas.

The mission of our Research Department ‘Drug Discovery Sciences’ is to find high quality first-in-class drug candidates. Our ambition is to strongly contribute to breakthrough therapeutic concepts, to provide excellence in drug screening, profiling, and optimization and finally to ensure seamless transition of drug candidates to Development. Join our Modelling & Simulation Team at the company’s largest Research & Development site.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • As a Principal Scientist, you will coordinate modelling and simulation recourses to ensure adequate design and analyses of PK and PD experiments;
  • You will ensure timely delivery of state-of-the-art M&S approaches throughout drug discovery;
  • You will guide and develop research scientists, as well as junior scientists, including e.g., PhD students;
  • You will represent Research DMPK in international Research Project Teams. This includes external collaborations and support of in licensing activities;
  • You will drive and create awareness on model-informed drug discovery by external collaborations, peer reviewed publications as well as scientific presentations;
  • You will shape and implement PK/PD modelling strategies and approaches for specific Therapeutic Areas/Indications.

Requirements

  • PhD in a field related to pharmacometrics, applied mathematics, systems biology, bioinformatics or similar;
  • In depth understanding of PK/PD Modelling and Simulation, as well as pharmacology- and DMPK-related topics;
  • Extensive relevant professional experience in PK/PD modelling and simulation;
  • Proven skills in PK, PK/PD, and/or longitudinal disease modelling. Proficiency in (statistical) programming languages (e.g., R) and pharmacometric tools (e.g. Phoenix WinNonLin, NONMEM);
  • Experience in leading people, e.g., in matrix-style project teams led by peers;
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate/work in international multi-disciplinary teams, and to communicate complex PK/PD analyses to the project teams and in stakeholder meetings.
