Winclove Probiotics is currently hiring an experienced team leader who is familiar with the field of B2B and Science. This person will lead a team of experienced science professionals. Together with the team, you share scientific (medical/clinical) research and expertise in order to provide strategic support for counterparts in other functional areas, such as Commercial, Market Access, Product Development, and Innovation. You will report directly to the general manager of Winclove Probiotics.

Responsibilities and tasks

The team leader will be an integral part of the Science team. It is a dynamic and diverse job, both hands-on and strategic. Your core tasks will be:

  • Leading the Science team:
    • To stimulate Science Liaisons to build/enlarge clinical evidence on new and existing products by means of a proactive approach; maintain an overview of clinical studies to ensure alignment with the Business strategy;
    • To provide guidance in liaising with medical organizations and opinion leaders (e.g., hospitals, clinical investigators, knowledge institutions and other research centres); and evaluate project ideas and research opportunities;
    • To ensure the presence of appropriate scientific team members at national and international conferences, meetings and other academic activities;
    • To give guidance to the team on timelines for studies in accordance with overall Business Development focus and project priorities; provide strategic goals and ensure adherence;
    • To provide a voice to Science team by translating scientific concepts (e.g., needs and requests from individual Science Liaisons) to other company members, such as Business Development;
    • To stimulate both professional and personal growth (e.g., by following courses, workshops and training, either directly related to science or to develop other skill sets).
  • Providing input for our scientific (clinical/medical) and business strategies:
    • Give input on important clinical topics and research opportunities from the medical, scientific, clinical and/or commercial field, with a view to new indications, mechanisms of action, or Product Market Combinations;
    • Contribute to the review and implementation of both long- and short-term business strategies to optimize markets for future and current products, and for the development of rational strategic and operational plans;
    • Responsible for the management of medical/clinical research budgets and allocation within the Science team, to ensure that the resources are aligned with the business strategy and in order to make decisions on which opportunities to pursue and which not.
  • Contributing to the training, leadership and continuing education of commercial staff and our business partners;
  • Stimulating an active interaction with other departments to ensure a proper understanding of Science Liaison roles and to build coherent collaboration as part of a common team spirit with other research and development teams, to ensure scientific/clinical input in projects.

Profile/skills

We are looking for a team leader who has passion, willingness, drive and readiness to commit to make a health difference, by bringing scientific evidence as a team to health care professionals and business partners with our products. You have extensive experience working within a Life Science area and a demonstrated track record in leadership roles with proven people management experience. You have a strong scientific background, deep understanding of the scientific field and the methodology of clinical trials. This position requires a mature personality, a strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

The following qualifications and competencies apply to you:

  • PhD and/or equally qualified academic health care professional with proven leadership experience in the Life Science industry, preferably with high interest for the role of the human microbiome;
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience working within science, having a demonstrated track record in leadership roles with well-educated professionals, and with a deep understanding of human interactions and personal needs of individual team members;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, on a variety of levels and issues, and able to build relationships of credibility and trust;
  • Resilient self-starter who can act independently and learn quickly;
  • Perceptive, creative person with the ability to contribute new ideas and build consensus;
  • Outstanding leadership skills, effective in marshalling support within a complex matrix organization;
  • Commercial acumen, demonstrating a desire and drive to work in a commercially driven business environment;
  • Passion and enthusiasm for clinical development, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining standards at the highest possible level;
  • A good command of Dutch (business) and English, both spoken and written. An additional command of French, German or Spanish is an advantage.
