(Sr) Research Associate, Bioanalysis and Immunogenicity

Ablynx

Gent, Belgium

Ablynx is seeking a (Senior) Research Associate to strengthen the dynamic Bioanalysis and Immunogenicity team. The focus of this department is the development of bioanalytical methods to be used for determination of compound levels and immune responses in biologic samples from pre-clinical and clinical studies. The main responsibilities for this role will be the development, optimisation and validation of pharmacokinetic (PK) and immunogenicity assays (ADA) and their use to analyse samples in (pre)-clinical studies. The successful applicant will be involved in designing, executing and analyzing experiments to evaluate the in vivo behavior of novel drug candidates in a bioanalysis laboratory. Since these methods can be used in support of regulated (GLP/GCP) studies an understanding of GLP principles will be an advantage.

The position requires excellent laboratory skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail at the bench and the desk. The position is primarily a laboratory position. Some documentation help (compiling/review of data tables and reports/instrument maintenance and documentation) will also be required.

Responsibilities

You will be involved in the in-depth characterisation of Nanobodies® for various therapeutic applications and your responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in developing, optimizing and qualifying pharmacokinetic, immunogenicity and pharmacodynamic assays to analyze the pharmacokinetic, immunogenic and pharmacodynamic properties of the Nanobodies® and other biologic macromolecules.
  • PK and immunogenicity method validation and troubleshooting if needed, using mainly Ligand-Binding Assays (LBA, e.g. ELISA, MSD, Gyrolab,… ).
  • Sample testing in support of PK and immunogenicity analysis using mostly LBA.
  • Accurate documenting and reporting of experimental procedures and results.
  • Analyzing data and preparing written results reports in English.
  • Communicating results and observations to the team in English.
  • Actively contributing to project teams in a matrix environment.
  • Performing other related laboratory duties as required.

Profile

  • Degree B. Sc., M. Sc. Biotechnology/(Bio)chemistry/Pharmacology/Industrial engineer or equivalent preferably with 1-2 years of relevant experience. More experienced candidates are encouraged to apply. Entry level will depend upon the incumbent’s level of experience.
  • Proven general lab skills, in particular experience with the optimization of ELISA based techniques.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, including data analysis and mathematical skills.
  • Good sense for initiative, quality, accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to document results, report and discuss experimental design and data in English.
  • Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal, listening).
  • Able to work independently and in team, enthusiastic and self-motivated.
  • Keen to learn new technics and to share expertise with others.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required; knowledge of statistical software JMP or Prism GraphPad is a plus.
