The Position:

The Medical Management Oncology Europe Solid Tumors/Sarcoma will provide strategic execution of the European scientific and medical affairs plan to ensure a success pre-launch and post launch activities for Daiichi Sankyo oncology products. He/she will be the regional oncology sarcoma area expert for internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and ensure the appropriate implementation of the scientific and medical affairs strategy for Pexidartinib in close collaboration with key stakeholders (R&D, Commercial, KAMs, MSLs, etc.);
  • Maintain an active network of key opinion leaders and community oncologists with specific focus on sarcoma;
  • Provide strategic input to the oncology planning and execution of brand plans at global and regional level;
  • Work closely with and influencing clinical development on all aspects, including study design, initiation, and monitoring of clinical studies, phase II-phase IV;
  • Interacting with experts at medical meetings, advisory boards, and outreach meetings to represent Daiichi Sankyo and strengthen its reputation in oncology;
  • Maintaining external orientation by participating actively in external Oncology events and activities;
  • Responsible for timely execution of the European medical affairs plan within budget;
  • Acts as the medical expert and leader in interactions with external stakeholders (e.g., regulatory authorities, key opinion leaders, R&D, global medical affairs);
  • Drive the medical affairs activities and generation of key data to support overall product life cycle management and business strategy;
  • Be the primary contact for scientific expertise for sarcoma within the medical affairs group for affiliates, global teams, and external experts/customers.

Professional experience and personal skills:

  • Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree with relevant therapeutic specialty in oncology/sarcoma preferred;
  • Completion of a residency program and/or fellowship is preferred;
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of medical affairs and/or development experience in the biotech/ pharmaceutical industry;
  • Must have an in-depth understanding of medical affairs role and process;
  • Ability to interact externally and internally to support global and regional business strategy;
  • Proven leadership skills in matrix organizations and ability to bring out the best in others in cross-functional teams. Must be able to lead through influence;
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical trial methodology, regulatory and compliance requirements governing clinical trials and experience in development of clinical strategy and the design of study protocols;
  • Must possess excellent oral and written English communication skills;
  • Ability to exercise judgment and address complex problems and create solutions;
  • Ability to build effective working relationships (internal/external), experienced in working in a matrix environment.
