Responsibilities

The Associate Director, Compliance Operations position reports to the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer (DCCO) Europe/Rest of World (EU/ROW). The role provides compliance guidance and support to the EU/ROW organisation to help ensure that Jazz Pharmaceuticals (the Company) is compliant with the laws and regulations governing the Company’s operations.

He/she assists the DCCO to deliver on a variety of compliance-related activities including, but not limited to developing, implementing and reporting of the compliance monitoring programme both at an EU/ROW level and in the affiliates; supporting the EU/ROW transparency programme in collaboration with the affiliates and US Compliance Operations colleagues; and serving as a point of contact and resource for EU/ROW raising compliance issues.

Job Responsibilities

The Associate Director, Compliance Operations reports to the DCCO EU/ROW providing operational support and guidance primarily to EU/ROW employees related to Company compliance policies and procedures, education/training, compliance monitoring and transparency. He/she engages proactively with multiple stakeholders with a solution-focused approach to succeed in this role. He/she is expected to work autonomously in the following areas as required:

  • Provide advice and guidance to the EU/ROW senior management, affiliate General Managers/Medical Directors, functional leaders and employees on compliance issues and the Company corporate compliance programme;
  • Identify and solve complex compliance questions, with the support of the DCCO in the EU/ROW region; working with EU/ROW senior management, and affiliate leadership teams to implement solutions;
  • Foster a culture of integrity and ethical behaviour across the EU/ROW organisation;
  • Work closely with Compliance colleagues in the development and implementation of compliance strategy, policies and standard operating procedures, training and monitoring activities to ensure an effective compliance programme throughout the EU/ROW organisation;
  • Advise on the impact of external regulatory and Code of Practice changes, providing advice on potential solutions;
  • Advise and train affiliate compliance representatives on the compliance programme and local compliance monitoring requirements;
  • Continue to develop and implement the compliance monitoring programme across the EU/ROW organisation;
  • Provide oversight and guidance to Compliance Operations and affiliate colleagues on EU/ROW transfer of value requirements to ensure accurate reporting in each impacted country;
  • Co-ordinate and track EU/ROW compliance training for the Company, ensuring timely completion and appropriate documentation;
  • Compile and implement the EU/ROW Healthcare Professional Fair Market Value programme, providing advice as required;
  • Assist in investigating and resolving reports of potential non-compliance received from employees or third parties;
  • Participate in the EU/ROW Compliance Forum and provide oversight of the implementation of the EU/ROW Compliance Programme;
  • Represent the Company in industry associations and other ethics and compliance-related stakeholder groups;
  • Complete, at the request and under the supervision of the Chief Compliance Officer/DCCO, or his/her designee, ad hoc projects as needed to achieve corporate objectives, contribute to a collegial atmosphere and balance workload.

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

  • Bachelor degree in an appropriate subject matter is preferred;
  • At least five years proven experience in the compliance field in a pharmaceutical, medical device or biotechnology company. Experience in small to mid-cap pharmaceutical companies is a plus;
  • Knowledge and understanding of healthcare compliance framework within the EU/ROW and member jurisdictions, including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the UK Bribery act;
  • Proven experience in identifying and resolving healthcare compliance issues quickly and effectively;
  • Demonstrated experience in prioritising conflicting demands in a fast-paced environment;
  • Independent thinking and action, as well as the potential to develop and take on increased responsibility;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate and work with all levels of the organisation (including regional management and field personnel);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required. Fluency in another EU language is preferred.
  • Ability to embrace and positively manage change.
  • Travel throughout the EU and occasional travel to the United States is required.
