Based in Manchester the Associate Director of Medical Affairs will be responsible for directing medical and scientific affairs activities in Infection and Immune Diagnostics. This position will report directly to the Senior Director of Medical & Scientific Affairs. Responsibilities include the support of launch readiness and post-launch market penetration of QIAGEN product lines, with additional responsibilities supporting global medical affairs and corporate goals and objectives.

Primary responsibilities of the position:

  • Represent medical and scientific affairs in cross functional development teams;
  • Provide medical and scientific input into product Risk assessments;
  • Identify Key Opinion Leaders in medical and scientific affairs and engage with them as sounding boards;
  • Review Development documentation for accuracy of medical and scientific content;
  • Review Marketing material for accuracy of medical and scientific content;
  • Review of clinical data alongside Key Opinion Leaders to establish publication strategy;
  • Identify clinical trials sites and establish contracts and budgets as required;
  • Conduct effective clinical and scientific presentations for internal and external education strategy on QIAGEN products and technologies;
  • Review and summarize data, assist in the preparation of health technology assessment and Health Economic and Outcomes research reports;
  • Leverage thought leader relationships by aligning their expertise with QIAGEN needs;
  • Report back to QIAGEN through appropriate channels key market trends and competitive position.

Position Requirements

  • PhD, MD, PharmD or DO is required. Academic background in Infection and Immune Diagnostic;
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the biotechnology industry;
  • Background consisting of cross-functional roles in medical and scientific affairs;
  • Able to deliver concise and cogent presentations with ability to maintain high ethical standards in order to gain trust and approval of audience;
  • Able to work with cross-functional teams on a regional and national level to implement strategies and objectives;
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand to process and disseminate complex scientific material in presentations and discussions;
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and work independently in a fast paced environment.

Personal Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, organizational and workload planning skills;
  • Able to communicate technical concepts both verbally and written with clarity and accuracy;
  • Willingness to travel (UK & overseas approx. 30-40%).
