Research Scientist - Bioinformatics

We are looking for an experienced research scientist to support the development of our capabilities in bioinformatics and computational approaches for drug discovery projects.

Key Responsibilities or Core Accountabilities

You’ll play an important role in Evotec’s integrated drug discovery pipelines and will take part in projects for the discovery of innovative treatments in the oncology, immuno-oncology and inflammation/immunity spaces.

Your roles will be:

Collaboratively develop novel computational approaches (incusing AI/ML-based approaches), optimize existing tools, and automatize analysis processes, in the aim to improve our capabilities in the analysis and interpretation of clinical and multi-omics data in a drug discovery context.
Coordinate with Evotec researchers in experimental groups to translate computational analysis results into tangible benefits for therapeutic discovery.
Effectively communicate with Evotec’s clients through presentations of projects’ results.

Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities

Demonstrated experience of data analysis using Machine Learning approaches in any scientific field;
Demonstrated experience in R or Python development, and use of common AI/ML libraries;
Demonstrated experience in large scale datasets, such as multi-omics data;
Knowledge in oncology, or immuno-oncology, or inflammation and autoimmunity, and ability to communicate with non-bioinformaticians on these areas;
Experience in handling omics data, in particular epigenomics (ChIP-seq), and transcriptomics, as well as working with oncology databases is a plus;
Capability to organize work efficiently and meet deadlines;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently in interdisciplinary teams and a fast-paced work environment. Collaborative mindset, autonomous, business oriented and with a sense of creativity and entrepreneurship;
Full Professional Proficiency in English.

Education, Qualifications and Experience

PhD in computational biology, systems biology, bioinformatics or a related subject with >3 years of experience in industry (pharma, biotech);
Alternatively, MSc or engineering degree in same above areas with >5 years of experience in industry.
